Date: 11/19/2013

Trainer: Brandon Kirkland

Trainee/s:
1) Riley Bush
2) Meg Gambrel
3) Krista Krellwitz (last name may be spelled wrong)
4) Crystal Melody

Follow: Day 1 Runner

Please give a brief overview of the trainee/s performance during their follow, including strengths and weaknesses. List each in order if multiple trainees are present.
1) Riley Bush - Has a strong drive, is a frequent guest of the location. First to volunteer for most things. Good sense of urgency. Overall, no real unique weakness.
2) Meg Gambrel - Great attitude but, seemed nervous. A little bit lacking in attention span but, I can relate when training in something new.
3) Krista Krellwitz (last name may be spelled wrong) - Did things quickly and often was eager to skip ahead. Seemed a bit bored during training so I tried to engage her more. Kept asking when we were going to be done. Said she had to leave for an appointment before finishing some of the training steps but, assigned homework for the stuff she missed. (bathroom checks mostly). Seems like a hard worker but, also gives off the impression that she does not want to be a runner. Could be a good thing or a bad thing, too early to tell.
4) Crystal Melody - Seemed a bit quiet and reserved during most of the training. Had to remind her a couple of times about having a sense of urgency (especially during the clean in the morning). Seemed to understand the training but, after Krista left she also said she needed to leave. Very difficult to read. May need some individual attention while running food. Also needs review of bathroom checks.

If Day Three Follow, please post trainee/s Certification score and/or retake score.

What roles do you see the trainee/s attaining in their future with the Alamo Drafthouse family?
1) Riley Bush - He would fit in well anywhere.
2) Meg Gambrel - probably a server
3) Krista Krellwitz (last name may be spelled wrong) - Server
4) Crystal Melody - Unsure
Did you cover all topics on the Follow Card?
Yes, although Krista and Crystal may need extra review on day 2. We also went over theater clean steps verbally and had a mock clean but, never got to do an actual theater clean. May want to throw that in for day 2.
Do you feel that the trainee/s was given enough guidance?
Yes
What was something you learned from this train?
When training people of different comfort and skill levels it becomes difficult to keep everybody interested. I find that when taking things slowly to make sure people don't fall behind it often becomes necessary to pay more attention to the faster learners so they don't get bored and tune you out.
What feedback do you have to improve our training efforts?
I often find that day 1 training tends to last until around 2pm but, sometimes longer due to unforeseen circumstance (such as runners calling in sick). It may be helpful to let trainees know that they may not be getting out until later in the afternoon (like 3pm~). That way their day will most likely be shorter than expected but, if it does drag out they won't become restless or have scheduling conflicts.
